Training your breath decreases stress, improves mental clarity, focus and concentration. It simulates high altitude training without needing to go to high altitudes.  Creating  an optimal environment in the body allows you  to experience improved performance benefits from your regular strength, technical, and fitness training routines. The overwhelming benefit is in the ability to do more.

As an athlete, when your body is able to move freely without restrictions you have more innate confidence in its ability.  You are able to let go of both known and unknown limiting beliefs in your physical capabilities. Your training then becomes more effective and efficient, creating a positive loop of increased confidence and improved performance.

You know when you have that feeling of fluidity between your mind and body, where you are fully immersed in your game, your senses are heightened, your movement is effortless and you feel unstoppable? That is being in the zone. Training to overcome mental barriers, to build behaviours, habits, and routines allows you to be in the zone more of the time. More time in the zone equals more optimal performance.
